Blake Littlejohn
As a training clinician pursuing post-residency fellowship training, my research fellowship focuses on building a foundation for successful and responsible research for further career progression. Under the guidance of my mentor, Dr. Matthew Kutcher, my research centers on the physiologic and biochemical mechanisms behind clinical coagulopathy demonstrated in injured and critically ill patients. In our lab, I use a preclinical model of hypercoagulablity after orthopedic injury to further characterize platelet and clot dysfunction using various assays, including a novel approach to investigate platelet mitochondrial dysfunction. During my research fellowship, I am also pursuing a Masters degree in Clinical Investigation through the University of Mississippi School of Graduate Studies and Health Sciences. Upon completion of the program, I will have gained exceptional experience and training to help me become a future clinical and translational investigator.
